If I were to think of one piece of advice to pass on to somebody early in their career, I think it would be to pay very close attention to what in their work makes them the happiest--what they enjoy doing the most. And expose themselves to a very wide network of mentors and role models.

Not necessarily the ones that have been given to them but the ones that they can seek out on their own. Some of whom they actually won't ever meet in person. And to look at all of them as sort of a sample of career paths and put that together with what they find that makes them really passionate about their work.
