I Get to Do Everything I Want to DoPosted on February 15, 2006 Robert C. Pianta (bio) describes how his job allows him to satisfy his curiosity about the world. |
I have a great job. I love it. I get to do something that satisfies me intellectually. I think I do it mostly because I'm curious. I'm very curious about... I work in schools and the effects of schools. I'm very curious about how those things operate, and I have some passion about the ways in which research can help us do a better job as a society to meet the needs of kids.
I was a teacher for a while, so I think that probably has some effect there as well, but I think research plays a big role in this. Right now I get to do everything I would want to do. I teach some classes. I run a lab and get to do research in my lab, and I'm called on very often by state and federal agencies to provide them advice about what they're doing with kids. It's great; I like it.
