What’s the point of measuring it longitudinally? Usually it's you want to measure some type of change over time, and so sometimes it’s perfectly suitable to just measure the starting point on the baseline measurements and then an end point.

But if you want to see the shape that’ll occur over time then you need to determine the timing and number of measurements in between the beginning and the end, and it’s kind of a trade-off between how much data you can collect and how expensive it is and the types of goals you have for the intermediate measurements.
