Integration of Work and FamilyPosted on January 14, 2008 Jeannette R. Ickovics (bio) speaks about having isolated time and integrated time when dealing with career and family responsibilities. |
I think another thing that I’ve come to determine is for me, and this may or may not work for others, is not so much to think about work and family as totally separate. But I have come to a place that has integrated my work and family so that there are times when I will work early in the morning, but when I come home at the end of the day, I’m really with my family. And same thing with the weekends where there is some untouchable time but there’s also time where I can make those integrated decisions where I don’t have to, it’s not so black and white. But that there’s some flexibility again in the days and weeks, so that it’s an integrated lifestyle choice rather than just a 9-5 kind of decision.
